6-inch Newton Mortar

The 6-inch Newton Mortar was a type of mortar used by the Canadian Army in the First World War. This weapon, designed by the British, was officially classed as a Medium Mortar, and issued 12 per division in British divisions.

Medium trench mortars were used chiefly to destroy machine gun emplacements, trenches, and barbed wire in the enemy's forward lines.
